Changing and securing your email password

What you need
- Your full email address (for example
you@yourbusiness.com) and your current password. - Access to the webmail at webmail.mailflux.eu, or to your Mailflux account.
- A few minutes and, handy but not required, a password manager.

Changing your email password: step by step
- Go to webmail.mailflux.eu and log in with your email address and your current password.
- Open Settings (usually the gear icon at the top right).
- Go to the Password section (sometimes found under Account or Security).
- For Current password, enter your existing password.
- For New password, type your new password and repeat it to confirm.
- Click Save. You are now immediately logged in with your new password.
- Also update the new password in every mail program where the mailbox is set up (Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail or the app on your phone).
Choosing a strong password
Choose a password that is long and unique: at least twelve characters, and not reused from another service. A sentence you remember (with capitals, a number and a punctuation mark) works better than a short, complicated word. Let a password manager keep it for you, so you don't have to know it by heart. Don't share your password with anyone and never type it in after a link from a suspicious email; that's exactly how accounts get hijacked. Also consider two-step verification: it's optionally available with every Mailflux plan and adds an extra lock on top of your password, so that your password alone is never enough to get in.
Not working?
- Your new password is rejected. Check that it meets the minimum requirements and that both fields are filled in exactly the same.
- Your mail program keeps asking for a password. That's because the old password is still stored there. Update it in the account settings; you don't need to touch the server values, which are on IMAP and server settings.
- You've lost your password and can't log in. Then you can't reset it yourself via the webmail. Contact our support and we'll open your mailbox back up together.
Done
Your password is now set and your mailbox is secure again. If you log in on multiple devices, update the password everywhere and everything runs in sync again. Can't figure it out or would you rather not tinker yourself? We're happy to help you on your way personally. Request your mailbox with no obligation and we'll set it up together.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How often should I change my email password?
A strong, unique password doesn't need to be changed on a fixed schedule. Do change it immediately if you suspect someone knows it, if you accidentally entered it somewhere, or if you shared it with others. Otherwise, a well-kept password is fine for years.
What if I've completely lost my password?
If you can no longer log in, you don't reset it yourself via the webmail. Contact our support with your email address and domain. We check that you are the owner and help you personally to regain safe access to your mailbox.
