Setting up autodiscover: automatic configuration
What you need
- Your Mailflux email address and password.
- A mail program of your choice (for example Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail).
- The server settings for your own domain. You'll find them under IMAP and server settings.

Setting up autodiscover: step by step
- Open your mail program and choose Add account.
- Enter your full email address and password.
- Let the program try the rest. Many clients automatically make an autodiscover attempt and then fill in the server, ports and security themselves.
- Does the program find the settings for your own domain? Then confirm and you're done.
- If it doesn't find them, choose manual setup and continue with the step below.
Automatic configuration not working? Do it manually
When setting up manually, choose IMAP as the account type, so your mail stays in sync across all your devices. Then fill in the server, ports and security:
- Incoming server (IMAP): port
993with SSL/TLS. - Outgoing server (SMTP): port
465with SSL/TLS. - Username: your full email address.
- Password: the password of your mailbox.
Take the exact server name for your own domain from the IMAP and server settings. Copy that value literally and don't make anything up, and you'll be right straight away. Enter the same name for the incoming and outgoing server, unless the settings indicate otherwise. If you'd first like to understand how that automatic detection works, read what is autodiscover.
Not working?
- The program can't find the settings. That's no problem: switch to manual and use the values above (IMAP 993/SSL, SMTP 465/SSL).
- Error message about your password. Check that you enter the full email address as the username and that the password is exactly right.
- No connection or a time-out. Sometimes a network or firewall blocks the port. Try a different network, or check whether
993and465are open. - Unsure about the server name. Always take the value from the IMAP and server settings; a mistyped server is the most common cause.
Almost done
Once your account is connected, your mail syncs automatically across all your devices. If automatic configuration didn't work, you're just as quickly set up with the manual IMAP settings. Can't figure it out? Let us know, we're happy to help you get started or set it up together with you.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't my program find the settings automatically?
Automatic configuration only works if your mail program can find the right details for your domain. If it can't, that's usually down to the program or the network, not your account. You then simply connect your mailbox manually with IMAP on port 993 and SMTP on port 465, both with SSL.
Do I need to install anything to use my mail?
No. If you want to get going right away without setting up a program, just log in at webmail.mailflux.eu. Your webmail works in the browser on any device, without installation. You can always connect a mail program later, using the same IMAP and SMTP settings you'll find in this guide.
