Setting up email on Android
What you need
- Your full email address (for example
jij@jouwzaak.be) and the password of that mailbox. - The Mailflux server and port details. The ports are the default values below; you'll find the exact server name in your Mailflux account or on the page IMAP and server settings.
- An Android phone or tablet with the Gmail app.
Good to know: some brands (such as Samsung) also have their own mail app. The fields are the same everywhere; only the menu names sometimes differ slightly.

Setting up email on Android: step by step
- Open the Gmail app and tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Tap Add another account.
- For the account type, choose Other (sometimes Personal).
- Enter your full email address and tap Set up manually.
- Choose Personal (IMAP) as the account type.
- Enter the Password of your mailbox and tap Next.
- Under Incoming server settings: enter the Mailflux server name under Server, with port 993 and security type SSL/TLS. Your Username is your full email address.
- Under Outgoing server settings (SMTP): enter the Mailflux server name, with port 465 and security type SSL/TLS. Leave Require sign-in on, with your full email address as the username.
- Tap Next. The app checks the connection and sets up your account.
Your messages are now retrieved and appear in your Inbox.
IMAP or POP?
Choose IMAP, as above (Personal (IMAP)). That way your messages stay on the server and you see the same mailbox on your phone, tablet and computer. POP downloads your mail to one device and usually deletes it from the server, awkward if you mail on more than one device. Want more background? Briefly read what email hosting is.
Not working?
- Password is not accepted. Watch out for typos and capital letters, and use the password of your mailbox.
- Automatic setup fails. That's normal with your own domain. Tap Set up manually and choose Personal (IMAP).
- Can't connect. Check whether you chose SSL/TLS at port 993 (incoming) and 465 (outgoing) each time, and whether the server name is correct.
- Sending doesn't work. Check that Require sign-in is on for the outgoing server, with your full email address.
- Still stuck? The full, up-to-date server values are at IMAP and server settings.
Done, and need help?
Send yourself a test message and send one back. If both arrive neatly, your Android device is set up correctly. By the way, you don't have to install anything to read your Mailflux mail: the webmail works directly in your browser, on any device.
Rather not tinker yourself? We'll help you get going personally. Request your mailbox with no obligation and we'll set it up together.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
I use my brand's own mail app (for example Samsung). Does this work too?
Yes. The fields are the same everywhere; only the menu names sometimes differ slightly. When adding an account, choose the manual or IMAP setup and fill in the incoming server with port 993 and the outgoing with port 465, each time with SSL/TLS.
Do I need a Google account to use the Gmail app?
You just need the Gmail app as a mail program; you add your Mailflux mailbox via Other → Personal (IMAP). You log in with your Mailflux address and password, not with another account. Your messages stay entirely on the Mailflux server.
