Setting up email in the Outlook app (iPhone/Android)

What you need
- Your full email address (for example
you@yourbusiness.com) and that mailbox's password. - The server and port details from Mailflux. The ports are the default values below; you'll find the exact server name in your Mailflux account or on the IMAP and server settings page.
- The Outlook app, installed on your phone or tablet.
Setting up email in the Outlook app: step by step
- Open the Outlook app. If you're setting it up for the first time, a field for your email address appears right away. If you already have an account, tap your profile icon at the top left and then the cog (Settings).
- Tap Add account and then Add email account.
- Enter your full email address and tap Continue.
- The app first tries to recognise your account automatically. If that fails, it asks for the account type: choose IMAP.
- Under Password, enter your mailbox password.
- Open Advanced settings (or Change settings) to enter the servers yourself.
- For IMAP incoming server: enter the Mailflux server name with port 993 and security SSL/TLS. Your username is your full email address.
- For SMTP outgoing server: enter the Mailflux server name with port 465 and security SSL/TLS, again with your full email address as the username.
- Tap the checkmark at the top right to sign in. The app checks the connection and sets up your mailbox.
Your messages are now being fetched and appear in your Inbox.
IMAP or POP?
Choose IMAP, as in the steps above. With IMAP your messages stay on the server and you see the same mailbox on your phone, tablet and computer every time. POP instead pulls your messages to a single device and usually removes them from the server, awkward if you email on more than one device.
Not working?
- Password not accepted. Watch for typos and capital letters. Use your mailbox password, not the one for your phone or another account.
- Automatic recognition fails. That's normal with your own domain. Choose IMAP manually and enter the servers yourself via Advanced settings.
- Can't connect. Check that you've chosen SSL/TLS for both port 993 (incoming) and 465 (outgoing), and that the server name is correct.
- Can't send. Check that the outgoing (SMTP) server requires sign-in with the same username and password as the incoming server.
- Still stuck? The full, current server values are on IMAP and server settings.
Done, and need help?
Is test mail coming in and can you send a message yourself? Then everything is set up correctly. If you'd rather set up your mail on your iPhone or Android via the standard Mail app, then see the guide for setting up email on iPhone/iPad or setting up email on Android.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't the Outlook app recognise my email address automatically?
With an email address on your own domain, the app has no automatic configuration to fall back on. That's why you choose IMAP manually and enter the server details yourself via Advanced settings. That's how it should be and it changes nothing about how your mail works afterwards.
Can I use the same mailbox on my computer too?
Yes. Because you use IMAP, your messages stay on the server. Set up your mailbox with the same details on your computer, or open webmail at webmail.mailflux.eu. You then see the same folders and messages everywhere, neatly synced.
