Adding email in Outlook on the web

Want to add your email in Outlook on the web? You do that through the settings, where you connect your Mailflux mailbox as an extra account with your own domain. You don't need any technical knowledge for this: you enter your address, password and the server details, and the rest sorts itself out. We'll walk you calmly through the steps.

Reading and managing email in the webmail, on any device

What you need

  • Your full email address (for example you@yourbusiness.com) and the password of that mailbox.
  • Mailflux's server and port details. The ports are the standard values below; the exact server name is in your Mailflux account or on the page IMAP and server settings.
  • A browser in which you're signed in to Outlook on the web.

Good to know: you can read your Mailflux mail in the browser without Outlook too. At [webmail.mailflux.eu](https://webmail.mailflux.eu) you log in right away, without connecting anything. If you'd first like to understand what runs behind your address, read what email hosting is.

Adding email in Outlook on the web: step by step

  1. Open Outlook on the web and click the gear (Settings) at the top right.
  2. Go to MailEmail accounts and click Add account.
  3. Type your email address with your own domain and click Continue.
  1. Choose IMAP when asked how you want to connect the account. With your own domain the details usually aren't found automatically.
  2. Under Incoming server enter Mailflux's server name, with port 993 and SSL/TLS on.
  3. Under Outgoing server (SMTP) enter Mailflux's server name, with port 465 and SSL/TLS on.
  4. Make sure your username is your full email address and enter your password.
  1. Click Save. Your mailbox now appears in the folder list and the messages are fetched.

IMAP or POP?

Choose IMAP when you get the choice. That way your messages stay on the server and you see the same mailbox everywhere: in the browser, on your phone and in the webmail. POP fetches your mail to one place and usually deletes it from the server, which is awkward if you want to mail on more than one device.

Not working?

  • Sign-in is rejected. Watch for typos and capitalisation and use the password of the mailbox itself.
  • Details aren't found automatically. That's normal with your own domain. Choose IMAP and enter the servers manually.
  • No connection. Check that you're using SSL/TLS on port 993 (incoming) and 465 (outgoing) each time and that the server name is correct.
  • Receiving works, sending doesn't. Check that the outgoing server (SMTP) has your full email address as the username.
  • Still stuck? The full, current server values are on IMAP and server settings.

Done, and need help?

Send yourself a test message and send one straight back. If both arrive nicely, your mailbox is connected correctly. If you'd rather not connect a client at all, the webmail simply works in the browser on any device: no installation, ready right away.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to connect my mailbox to Outlook on the web to use it?

No. You can read and send your Mailflux mail directly via [webmail.mailflux.eu](https://webmail.mailflux.eu), without connecting anything. Connecting it in Outlook on the web is handy if you'd rather bring your existing addresses together in one familiar screen.

Can I add several addresses on my own domain?

Yes. Repeat the steps for each address via the gearMailEmail accountsAdd account. Each mailbox keeps its own folders, while thanks to IMAP your messages stay on the server and sync across all your devices.
