Syncing your contacts via CardDAV

What you need
- A Mailflux mailbox on a Pro or Premium plan (contact management and CardDAV are part of those).
- Your full email address and the password of your mailbox.
- The CardDAV server values from Mailflux. You'll find these in your Mailflux account or on IMAP and server settings.
- A device or app that supports CardDAV: Apple Contacts on iPhone and Mac, a CardDAV app on Android or Thunderbird on your computer.
- Want to know what it is first? Read briefly what CardDAV is.
Syncing CardDAV: step by step
On an iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings → Contacts → Accounts → Add account.
- Choose Other and then Add CardDAV account.
- Under Server, enter the CardDAV server value from Mailflux, and under Username and Password your email credentials.
- Tap Next and then Save. Your contacts appear in the Contacts app.
On Android:
- Install an app that supports CardDAV and open it.
- Add a new CardDAV account with the Mailflux server value and your email credentials, and confirm.
In Thunderbird or another contacts app on your computer:
- Open the address book, choose New address book → CardDAV and enter the server value and your email address.
In practice you use the same server value and your email credentials everywhere. If you add a contact on your phone, a little later it will also be in the webmail and on your other devices.
Set it up once, access it everywhere
You only set up CardDAV once per device. After that you don't have to do anything: new contacts, changed numbers or an updated address are carried along automatically. This prevents duplicate or outdated contacts that get stuck on one device. If you use several devices, you enter the same server value and email credentials everywhere, and after that everything updates on its own.
Not working?
- Connection failed. Check the CardDAV server value and use your full email address as the username.
- Password is rejected. Use the password of the mailbox itself and watch out for capital letters.
- No contact management or no CardDAV available. These features are part of Pro and Premium, not of Basic.
- Contacts aren't syncing. Give the app a moment to sync or refresh manually. The current server values are on IMAP and server settings.
Done, and need help?
Put a test contact in the webmail and check whether it appears on your phone a little later. If that works, your contacts are in sync everywhere. Want to manage your calendar and contacts in one place? Take a look at the online calendar.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do my contacts stay in sync if I add one on my phone?
Yes. CardDAV syncs in both directions. If you add a contact or change a number on your phone, it appears automatically in the webmail and on your other devices. That way you work with the same, up-to-date data everywhere.
Can I also sync a shared address book via CardDAV?
Yes. An address book you share with colleagues via central contact management is added via CardDAV just as easily. That way the shared contacts are also on your phone. Read how sharing works in sharing contacts with colleagues.
