What is autodiscover?
What exactly is autodiscover?
Normally, when setting up a mail program, you have to fill in servers and ports for incoming and outgoing mail. Autodiscover retrieves those details automatically based on your email address, so your account is ready in a few taps.
Explanation
That saves you technical fiddling and prevents typos in server addresses. You don't need to know any IMAP, SMTP or port numbers; the program sorts out the configuration for you. Handy when you're setting up a new phone or laptop. At Mailflux automatic configuration works, and if it ever doesn't, the manual settings are always available too. See automatic configuration (autodiscover).
Example
You connect you@yourbusiness.be to the mail app on your new phone. You only enter your email address and password. Thanks to autodiscover, the app fills in the right servers and ports itself, and your mailbox is ready straight away.
Why autodiscover is handy
For most people, setting up server addresses and ports is the trickiest part of email. Autodiscover removes that hurdle: you don't need to know any technical terms to get going. That saves time on a new device and prevents the typos that would otherwise stop mail from arriving or being sent. If automatic configuration doesn't work once, for example with an older program, you can always fall back on manual settings. You really don't need any technical knowledge for this.
