What exactly is CalDAV?
CalDAV is a protocol for sharing and syncing calendars. Create an appointment on your phone and, thanks to CalDAV, it also appears on your laptop and in your webmail, automatically and without copying it manually.
Explanation
Because CalDAV is an open standard, it works with many common calendar apps. Your calendar lives on the server and every connected device shows the same state. Handy if you keep your appointments in several places or share them with colleagues. At Mailflux, CalDAV is included in the Pro and Premium plans, together with calendar and task list. While out and about, you note a client appointment in your calendar on your phone. Thanks to CalDAV, that same appointment shows up moments later in the webmail on your office PC. You don't have to retype anything and you don't miss an appointment.
When do you need CalDAV?
CalDAV comes in handy as soon as you want to keep or share your calendar in more than one place. If you only work on one device, you'll barely notice it; if you use a phone, laptop and webmail interchangeably, CalDAV keeps everything in sync. And if you want to view the same calendar together with a colleague, this is the technology that makes it possible. You set it up once and after that the sync runs in the background.
