What exactly is CardDAV?
CardDAV is a protocol for sharing and syncing contact details. Add a contact on one device and, thanks to CardDAV, it appears on your other devices and in your webmail too.
Explanation
Your address book lives on the server and every connected device shows the same contacts. That way you have the same phone numbers and email addresses to hand everywhere, and you can share contacts with colleagues if you want. At Mailflux, CardDAV is part of the Pro and Premium plans, with central and shareable contact management. You connect it just like in syncing your contacts via CardDAV.
Example
On your laptop you save a new client with their name, phone and email. Via CardDAV that contact is on your phone a moment later too. Call the client while you're out and about, and you have the details right there.
When do you need CardDAV?
CardDAV comes in handy as soon as you want to keep your contacts up to date on more than one device, or share them with colleagues. If you only work on a single device, the benefit is small; if you use a phone alongside a laptop, CardDAV prevents you from having numbers and addresses in one place but not the other. You set it up once and after that the updating happens by itself. Lose a device and, on top of that, your contacts are still safe on the server and on your other devices.
